    .375 load question.

I've started using my .375 on our family hunt each year. It's a great all around cartridge, but I'm trying to find a good load for deer and axis. This year I shot a cull at 50yds on the shoulder and the 200gr Sierra shattered without hitting vitals. It broke his leg, but required another shot. The 2 other whitetails, I shot behind the shoulder and they didn't go 10 yards. I just didn't like that on the shoulder I had no penetration. I'm looking for a load that is comfortable to shoot and won't shatter on the shoulder. I'm thinking of the Barnes 235gr, but would love some suggestions. Thanks for the help.

OMG, why in the heck do you shoot deer with a .375 in the first place. Now to your question, just load it down to a reasonable speed if your only shooting out to 100 yds or less. I use to shoot my .223 at coyotes with either a very fast BTHP 53 gr. match or I could slow it down and use a Speer PSP with the same results. The same theory can apply to the .375, use the right bullet with the right volocity and you can get good results.
