On Saturday, December 29th, I shot this 8 point with my Mathews Heli M.
It was an afternoon hunt. The feefer went off at 4:30 PM and for the first hour there was no sign life other than the 20 dove and one single Red Bird.
At about 5:30 PM I had 5 doe with 4 yearlings in tow move in to feed. About 10 minutes later, 3 2.5 year old 8 points walked in and fed. 15 minutes past and the entire dinner group became nervous and was pushed out by a single 3.5 year old 8 point.
As I attempted to draw in him, he was very vigilant of the everything that generated any noise. The wind was not even a whisper and I knew that drawing on him would be task.
As he fed at 15 yards, I decided to go ahead and draw when he was distracted by the younger bucks wanting to feed. I drew to fulldraw and held it ready to locate my peep and pin. He turned broadside and I let the Easton Flatine 400 fly and the Slick Trick was true. I got a clean pass through, He ran, jumped the fence and walked about 15 yards. He stood for a minute and then continued to walk another 30 yards. He stood and then fell. The mighty beast had been conquered.
The tracking job was easy!
Sorry for the picture size but I will resize later!
