My Experience with the Traditional Community

First off, I am a noob to traditional archery. As some of you have been more than helpful answering my questions and giving guidance. I was given the opportunity by fellow TBH member Jerp to borrow his Samick Sage for awhile and begin shooting a traditional bow. I can not believe how giving and willing to help he has been, and the rest of the traditional shooters on here. You never hear of this on the other side of archery. I can't see anyone lending one of their compounds to someone they have never met, and hardly spoke with. I feel at home here in the traditional section eventhough I have never met most of you. I just want to say thank you all for all the help and guidance. Most of ll a huge thank you to Jerp for his kindness.

That's what I found when switching as well.

Awesome!!! It's true, folks on this side of the spectrum are way more helpful and willingly give advice when needed.

That Jerp is allright! (Kudos, John)

Come on out to a few TBoT 3D shoots next year and you will meet a great bunch of folks.

So far I feel comfortable shooting the recurve. The Sage seems to crowd my fingers at anchor. I shoot split finger. So tonight I shot it 2 finger split and it felt much better and I could get to anchor easier. The Sage seems to start stacking at my 30'' draw, the bow is 40# at 28'' and I can only imagine what I'm pulling. Although when I get to anchor I feel solid holding for a few seconds to get my mental image / focus in tune. I love shooting traditional.

My SIL has the same problem with my Sage. It seems they weren't meant to handle anything over 28 inches.

My last 3 arrow group at 11 yds I was able to wrap my index finger and thumb around it shooting with 2 fingers. I hope to consistently do that.

I enjoyed meeting you Darin. That Sage may not fit your wingspan too well but hopefully it will get you started down the trad road. When I read that you went to see Mark and Sandy at Horne Archery in knew it was a done deal - I have a strong feeling they will be getting some of your money before too long! No question that the trad crowd is a "pay it forward" bunch - evangelists for the stick and string!

It was a pleasure meeting you, and if everyone in this section are as giving and willing to help as you, then you all are ambassadors to the sport. I'm gonna play with the bow some more and really try to focus on consistency. I also need to adjust the nock point on the string. The arrows I have are porpoising pretty bad. Until I get a few of the minor tune things done, with your ok, I think I will definately be more consistent.

Do what ever you need to do as far as brace height and nocking point to make it shoot better for you. That's what it is all about.
