We have small frame deer on this ranch; unlike the slick dark grey South Texas bucks I am accustomed to looking at.

They have not been feeding protein on this place for several years, but even when they did, the body weights were extremely low.

So regardless of the buck’s age, (3½ to 6+) you won’t see very much difference in body weight.

So take that aspect into account when you whack or walk em’. ☺
