HHA single pin sight vs. traditional multi pin.

thinking about going to a singlpin sight, any pros or cons to them vs. the regular multipin sight? Hoping the gs can give me some feed back. Thanks!!!

You won't get confused on which pin to shoot when the time comes. I've been shooting single pin for years.

IMHO i'm not a single pin fan. Don't get me wrong they are great sights just not for me. I think most people like them for the clean sight picture (cant beat 1 pin to focus on). As well as the vertical pin style seems to appeal to quite a few people as well. The obvious advantage is the precise dialing and pin point accuracy all the way down to the single yard. If you have time to range your game then a single pin sight can be devastating at many ranges. You can purchase them in all size objectives for your style of shooting and if you chose to use the pre-made distance tapes then sighting in your bow can be a breeze.
With the pros also come a few cons. One of the main reasons i tend to stay away from HHA or any single pin is i worry that i will forget to move my pin before making a shot. You may shoot at camp the morning of the hunt at 20 yards but once your in your stand and its time to shoot your game you may get caught up in the moment and fail to move your pin. I'm sure you would get in Habit of always remembering but that's one more thing to think of. Another small and possibly none issue is quiver attachment. To some folks with Mathews quivers an HHA is no problem bc the quiver is attached to the riser. But with most models they attach to the sight. HHA provides spacers but they don't always give the clearance needed.
This is just my opinion.I have sold hundreds of these sight systems to my customers and very rarely do we have any major issues. There simply not for me. If your going to go single pin HHA is the brand to have. They are a well made product with great customer service and i think you will be happy with them. Hope this helps

My fear of using one is if my target decides to take a couple of steps away and i dont know the exact yardage any more. What tricks do you use to remedy that situation or do you?

I have an HHA. Bottomed out (closet shot), I sight it in at 25 yards. I also have marks for 35 and 45. I never intend to use them but have the marks there for reference just in case I have to make a followup shot on a wounded animal. For whitetail hunting I don't take shots over 25....I really like mine at 20 yards or less. First thing I do when I get in my stand is to make sure the sight is bottomed out and I know I am good to go for anything out to 25 yards. I love having one pin in the sight picture with my aging eyes.

I will never shoot at miltipin again, I love my HHA ! The open sight picture has helped my shooting Dramatically. I just make sure and range all my trails when I get setup and make mental notes of them. If I have time I will range the animal and adjust sight.

i've had the hha's, the trijicon, vbg and have been shooting the sword centurion for years. I will never shoot a multi pin.

                  a. it takes a split second to change your yardage
                  b. I shoot a lot of in betwen yardages . . . . example my bow is set to 25 yards I know what the over under is for +/- 5

I just recently switched from a Sword 3rd Plane to the HHA. I have a much clear image of the pin and target without the other pins obstructing my view especially in low light conditions. I just set it at 30 and compensate by shooting low for a 20 and high for 40 yard shot.

It really depends. I had a multi pin that had 4 pins and I set them at 20/30/40/50.

Problem is that bows now are SOOO good that you find yourself wanting to shoot target even further. With a faster bow you can use an HHA from 20-80 yards.

So as a completly unbiased opinion I say this. If you think you will ever want the freedom to shoot out to 80 yards get the HHA. If you think you will only use your bow hunting or you have a slower bow. (below 290 FPS) Go with a multi pin. Slower bows will only go from 20 to about 60 with an HHA. I still don't know which I prefer yet. They are both good. I really liked that fact that I didn't have to adjust anything on the multi pin. But with the HHA I really like being ABLE to adjust.

That's about as honest of an opinion I can give you.

I shot a Hogg-it 5 pin and went with HHA a few years ago. I will not be going back to multi pin. As already said it cleans things up. I know the hold over or hold under for +/- 5 yards in the event I can’t make an adjustment with the range wheel out to 35 yards. I also use a 4X lens on the HHA so I do not have to wear my glasses. That makes it like using a rifle scope. 1 pin works for me out to 60 yards just great.

How does the HHA lens work shooting deer? I looked through a friends lens on a different brand and it wasnt very clear.. hazy. He said on a deer all you can see is brown and its hard to place shots well. Are the HHA lenses better quality?

On my hunting rig, I just set a pin at 25yds and slide the others down out of the way. I will not shoot an animal past 30yds and I'm good from there and closer with the one pin. I put a mark on the sight in case my pin gets broken or something. Then I can just slide one of the other pins up and be ready to go again.

Thanks y'all! I'm looking into this because I'm going to get a Hoyt carbon element after this season and it's quiet a bit faster than my diamond black ice so I might have to go ahead and try one out when I get the new setup.
