    Inferior genetics?

Let him grow or take him out? He does have a sticker coming out from behind one of his horns. Your thoughts? He does have some height just don't know whether to let him walk or not.Click image for larger version

              Dont kill bambi.

Spikes at 1 are not inferior.

Really young deer. Now, if he were a few years old I would chalk him up to inferior genetics. I would at the least give him a couple years.

Walk, in south Texas there are many years and times when most or all of your 1 yo class will be spikes. I think it is a mistake to shoot them then unless you have plenty of forked yearlings running around.

He'd get shot if he walked by me. Not because he is inferior in any way but these are the most replaceable animals in a deer herd. Its not going to hurt anything either way.

He gets a carbon injection on my ranch. If all other yearlings can put on 4-6 points why couldnt he under the same conditions. We might see a 1.5 yr old spike every 3-4 years. Just my .02
