Best feeder kit? Timer, box, ect.

I'm going to be building a new feeder and was wondering what would be the best feeder kit to use? I'm looking to spend $40-$50

I personally think the whole enchilada from West Texas Feeder Supply is the best. HCR timer and a great box and solar panel. Never had a problem with them.

I was buying the Remington XPress on Ebay for $40 for awhile, but that supply has dried up. I think it's the best for $40-50, but it's not the best overall. It has a metal box with a slide-down access cover, a Wildgame Innovation digital timer and a decent 6 volt motor. The digital timer is the weak link. I've got about a dozen of them going now on three different properties and the do have a tendency to develop problems occasionally. Their distributor is in Plano, Texas so it's easy to get faulty ones replaced for free, but when you're counting on them to feed on a remote property and they fail, it's a bummer!

For 40-50 bucks your gonna be hard pressed to get into a good, let alone a decent Feeder.

My advice to you is find some extra dough... That 50 dollar Feeder is going to fail, cause you numerous problems, cost you extra money for replacement parts and ruin hunts.

Step up to the 100 buck range. I have two new favorite timers. "the timer" and the "sneaky feed" the later being more expensive but pm quad as I think he still may have some in the classifieds for sale.
Then go on Ebay and pick up a 12 volt motor ($29), 12v battery($19) (pm rodeo here he may still have some), a 12v solar charger ($27), Feeder plate ($15) and an ammo can ($17) if you don't allready have a housing large enough to hold the larger 12 volt stuff. That's 107 bucks plus the cost of timer (60-100) bucks. So 167-207 bucks

I know that's more than you want to spend... But this system will run for years without any maintenance needed. That 50 buck kit you want will cost you 4 times that in up keep and ruined hunts.

We had 12V magnum timers and motors mounted on our feeders with solar panels. Never had a single problem in 6-7 years of hunting. They ran all year round too. 100-150 after you put a solar panel on. You can feed up to 12 times a day and throw times up to 15 seconds I think. Awesome motors that sling corn like crazy.

This one is actually very reliable in my experience. hasn't let us down in the 3 years it has been going. For Around $45.
American Hunter Game Feeder RD-Pro Feeder Only W/Varmint Guard. The varmit guard is on the feeder, and for an extra $25 you can buy the zapper which hooks up to the inside and zaps coons and squirrels. Dang thing zapped me once pretty good too. (:-).

The American Hunter Pro Digital Feeder kit with a digital timer feeds from 1 to 16 times per day and offers an adjustable feed rate. Its easy to install and has a varmint guard built-in. Model # RD-KIT Features: Includes Digital Clock Timer and Guard Adjustable Feed rate Varmint guard Fits most any feed container Weather resistant housing Item Dimensions:

This is the one I would recommend. It is a 12 volt which is a ton better than any 6 volt on the market, is easy to set and run and very reliable. this is more than the price you listed, but do you want to spend that maount every year of splurge and spend the $165 one time and have it last for a long time. Mine have beem out pushing 10 years. All it needs is a battery.

Not really sure of a decent feeder for that price range. I use HCR and Allseasons and the same motor and timer have been going strong for the past 5 years with no problems.

I was trying to be cheap on it but seeing all the other ones posted here I might just spend more on something that will last me a couple of years

I've had good luck with the on time elite the housing if made of 1/4 inch aluminum with a wrap around solar panel but it's over your budget by a hundred

I have 2, 6-volt Monarch timers I got in '04. Replaced the motors 4 years ago with larger units from west texas supply. Have run them year round. Got an everlast 12-volt for a third setup last year. Seems good too.
