    The barrel target, by Viper

I recently picked up a new target, the barrel by Viper. It is a round target, that is about 18" in diameter, so it at first was kind of weird to shoot at (there is no flat face), but seems to work well. My impressions about it are they is is pretty good. I am shooting a Martin Stick at it, 45@28" so not a powerhouse bow, but I have never had anything more then about 4" of penetration on the target. If/when you wear it out, you can turn it about 20 degrees and have pretty much a new surface. It is supposed to be good for field point and broadheads, but I have not shot any broadheads into it. I bought it off the auction sight for under $50 shipped, so if I could find another at the price I would buy another. I did not find to many reviews on it, but I wanted to let people know my experience with it.

My OPINION is that broadheads will tear it up quick, but at the same time, like I said turn it just a bit and you have a new surface.

Yeah that is why I wanted to do a little write on it. I was reading about the Viper Company, and it was started by a bowhunter that was not able to find what he wanted, and so he started making the stuff he wanted, and then people started buying it from him.

If you do not hit it head on will it glance off?

I have never had once glance off yet, not saying that it can't but I have never had one do it. I have shot near the edges and it has always entered the target.

Heck from what I have seen your family does not need practice hitting trees, y'all seem to be naturals.

I called Viper today to discuss with them about Derek's training needs, and they were able to get me out a brand new prototype cover for his training needs. Please keep in mind that we were not sure what kind of tree that Derek needed...

                          What do you think?

They r alright targets, and have been around since 2008. I used to rep for viper back then. Pretty tough but broadheads will do sum damage and we did get a couple broadheads stuck and couldn't get them out. I've had one setting outside in the elements for prob 2 yrs straight and it still seems to be intact.

That's funny right there... It seems to me that you have not been mad at the trees lately, if I recall you shot really well last Sunday

An old friend gave me a target 25+ years ago that was that shape, it was a pipeline pig. Oh how I wish I could get another one, that thing lasted for many years.
