    Binoculars

Anyone have a recommendation for optics in the $400 to $600 range? I'd like to upgrade and frankly i've never had a quality pair. Will predominately be used here in Texas.

I have a pair of Swarovski El's in 10x42 and a pair of the Bushnell Legend HD 10x42's at bow range there is not 2100 dollars difference. Just my 2 cents.

Look thru those Swarovski's and Bushnells at long distances or close at first light and last light and you will see the difference. Also look thru the Bushnells long enough and your headache will arrive. Been there and done that. There is a reason for the price difference, some can see it and some can't. I got lucky and bought the Swarovski's and the difference was amazing.

Leupold makes some dang nice binos, in the range you looking for. Good luck so many good ones out there.

I just went through this same thing a little while back.

I was looking at the Bushnell and Leupold, but I wound up with Steiner Merlin. They are clear as can be, I had to do some anti fog treatment because they would get foggy in the morning during turkey season. The Nikon anti fog cloth works really well for this.

My thing was nothing made in China (USA, Japan and Germany were acceptable) which made it a tough search. Leupold doesn't offer anything in that price rang not made in China.

                +1 on Leupold.

My first pair of binos were cheap $29.95 Bushnell binos from Walmart. After the first time I got them wet, I realized you get what you pay for.

I now have some Leupold binos, that I paid about $400 for, and they're sufficient for what I use them for. I'm not hunting Colorado, glassing from mountain tops for elk. Someday I hope to afford some really nice ones, but the Leupold binos are sufficient for my needs now.

Nikon Monarchs. They too have slight advantages in low light to the loupuold's. The loupuolds are darn nice to.

Definitely buy the shoulder strap harness whichever pair you go with. Best 20 bucks you'll spend all season.

Dollar for dollar the best you can buy is the Cabelas Euro HD by meopta. It won the editors choice in Outdoor Life, beating out much more expensive models (swarovski, zeiss, ect)

It is in the same ball park as any of the highest end binos.

The reason they can manufacure and sell so cheap is they are made in the Czech, were labor is cheaper, and their advertising/marketing budget is non existent.
