    Jeep Bumper Install

Not really a DIY project, but I saved about $250 by doing it myself instead of going to 4wheelParts.

2009 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2 Door

    Bumper: LoD shorty winch bumper
With winch plate, grill hoop, and cutouts for factory fog lights.

Good deal! Send me a PM on where you got those D-rings with the red pins. That would look good on my red jeep.

After my winch and skid plate, I'm looking at some windshield lights and lights on top of the bumper hoop. I put an Old Man Emu lift on it earlier this year. Just a 2.5" lift.

                Looking good.

With that narrow bumper, your rig is ripe for some flat fenders.

Talk to these folks about some armor: http://www.bluetorchfab.com/

Windshield lights are a sure sign of a Jeep never been off road...

They get smashed and bent all up the first time out on the trail. I've watched lotsa folks take them off after the first few hundred yards of trail.

Same goes for "roof lights", "light bar", "Baja lights" etc. Whatever you want to call them. They're great blasting across the open desert, but get trashed by tree limbs at the lease and on the trail.

Put them on the bumper, or hoop and go on about your business.

If you want some really useful ones for night wheeling, look for some LED pucks to install as rock lights. Most of my wheeling has been with little more than the running lights on and rock lights a-glowin!

Good point. Never thought about that. Why would the windshield lights be more likely to get damaged that lights on the front bumper?

Tree branches and other stuff get them on the windshield.

They're less likely to get damaged on the bumper, you always have a tendency to keep that pointed in a safe direction (for the most part)

The only problem I've had with windshield mounted lights is loosing the plastic stone guards that came with the Delta lights I put on them. However the stone guards on these particular lights do not mount up very tight. I've also lost them from the lights on my bumper and they are protected by a 2in heavy walled bumper hoop. I supose if you have a shiny jeep you might get some glare from the hood, but thats not an issue on mine. My Jeep has definitly been "off road", but she ain't a rock crawler either.

FYI ARB sells silver shackles with a red pin and Crosby sells an all red shackle. Quadratec.com caries them both.

Added an LoD skid plate this morning. Took them awhile to ship it. Was supposed to be here with the bumper. Had to get my daughter to help because my fat hands wouldn't reach in some of the areas I needed to get a wrench on.
