    New problem for me??

    Hi folks,
I need some help. I just bought a new PSE Blackhawk, 60", 45# bow at
Cabelas. They didn't have a Fast Flight string so I got the regular dacron.
I fire off a few arrows, great group. Then release an arrow, I thought to myself, wow, sounded wierd and felt wierd. Then I looked at my bow, no
string and I couldn't find it either. To those with great knowledge, what caused that? I appreciate your help!
    Kind Regards,
    Charlie47

    Could be several things,,
    1) String was incorrectly made - I assume it was an endless loop string! sometimes the center serving is far too tight and will actually cut thru the string. This can happen on a Flemish as well but, as they are handmade one at a time - less likely.

    2) Sharp area on your nocks or even both on the bow.

    3) If you used a brass nock point - maybe it was crimped too tight and caused it to cut the string.

Did that happen while you were flinging arrows at the DCA range on Saturday? - Scott

        Yes Scott,
it sure did. I hadn't put nocks on yet. Scott, there's a new sting on the ground somewhere. I couldn't find it.

I was on the far west target. It's a new dacron, 60". I bought another one,
I can't find a Fast Flight string. I've checked several online suppliers, they show backorderable. I'm glad all you guys are safe.

Sadly, for me, my wife wants me to wait until Dec when my membership with
Texans Archery Club expires, before I can join Denton County.
            Kind Regards,

LOL...I figured if you were new to this, you were on the 10 yd target.

PM Doug McCoy (Ol Man) or RickBarbee. I'm sure they can fix you up w/ a good fast flight.

Might take it back to cabelas and have them check the limbs. I had a Bear longbow a few years back that would unstring itself every time I released an arrow. Sent it back to 3rivers and found out the problem was the top limb was twisted.

If I remember right you said the bow was 60", if so a 60" string might be a tad too long... normally a sting for a 60" recurve would be 56"

                    Charlie,

This is just an opportunity for you to work on your salesmanship and higher reasoning skills.

All you have to do is convince her that you will more than pay for the membership fee in the gas savings from just a half dozen trips (that you don't have to make) to Texins.

Oh yeah, I didn't make it out to DCA today due to letting it dry out from all the rain last night. I'll look for your string tomorrow.

Thanks for all your comments! I contacted PSE, they are sending the appropriate string.
If it does the same thing, I'm to send the bow in. I enjpyed talking to Scott and really liked the range. I haven't picked a bow in several years due to health issues.
                      Kind Regards,

I was out there this afternoon and shot a few arrows at the far west
target, but didn't see a string, but I wasn't looking for one since I had
not looked at this thread. I'll look tomorrow when I go out there.

Dusty, I didn't even rain at the range. I couldn't believe it, I expected
a muddy mess, but it was completely dry. We got almost 2 inches in
                          Sanger.

That's weird Jack, but good to know...we got at least a couple inches on this side too.

                              Charlie,

I found your string. At least I assume it's your string (55.5" 15 strand black Dacron with red center and loop end serving and no knock point).

There are no fraying or broken strands or serving anywhere. It's fairly pristine.

I found it hanging from and wrapped around a tree limb above where you were standing in front of the far west target. It sure looks to me like it slipped off of the bottom limb tip and went straight up.

I've got plenty of experience finding lost arrows, but I've gotta say this is the first time I've searched for a lost string.

PM me your address and I'll get it in today's mail to you.

                              Dusty
