My two boys and I shot our first 3-D tourney at Austin Archery this past Sunday and had a BLAST! We are just getting into the trad side of archery as a family and are really enjoying it. My wife does not shoot but she was behind the camera the whole time
Roman is 9 and is a lefty. Quinton is 15 and they both are shooting recurves.
All three of us just got new bows; the boys got theirs for Christmas and I bought a used longbow last week. The boys just joined the Tuesday night league at KC's and until 3 weeks ago, they had never shot past 10 or 12 yards.
The tourney was 30 targets, 1 arrow at each. Some were out to 27 yards with none closer than 10. Roman ended up taking 1st place with a 217! He even beat the majority of the adult recurve shooters. Needless to say, it was a Proud Dad moment Quinton was the only shooter in his class and he shot a 151 and ol' Dad took 2nd with a 174 in Longbow and my last arrow on the last target was a 12 ring.
We ran into Deb on the course and she graciously gave me a few pointers Really nice to meet you Deb. Wild weather as well! It sleeted and snowed on us at the last part of the course and snowed pretty good while we were waiting on scores.
A very memorable day! Here are a few pics.
