    Got the Sage!!!!!!!!!! It's Official

Drove about an hour and a half to the nearest place that stocked traditional bows up here. Had the Sage in stock. I had a 40lb and a 45lb set up to try. In the end, I went with the 45lb limbs, and I think I made the right decision. I was doing pretty well for looking like a complete dufus. The people at the shop were incredibly helpful, so they got my business. Got some CE arrows to go along with the setup that are hand fletched with feathers by a maker on TradGang specifically for this shop in Del City. I am super pumped. I spent most of my time shooting. I will be placing an order at 3Rivers to get a better shooting glove (I had to stop at Academy to get one in my size, as the shop was out of stock), a bow stringer (out of stock) and a rubber tip protector. I like the Sage, and I had a dead on bullseye at 10yds. Of course, my first shot almost took out a stray plant that they had set up at the other end of their range. Pretty funny. Now, I will be working on practicing and form. I learned that I really like this type of shooting way more than the compound. I won't give it up just yet, but I think it will be put away for a while. I did have a guy next to me shooting that said that traditional is good for the offseason, but if you want to hunt, a compound is the way to go. I laughed, and I thought yall would get a kick out of that. Anyway, rambling. Gonna go shoot here in a minute in the back yard. Loving this already.

Cool deal! It only gets better from here but you have to give it time. Make sure that you realize that it will take some, time, effort, practice, and dedication but it is well worth the price.

On a side note, if you run into that guy again, tell him to get in touch with me. I got a nice little photo album I'd be glad to share with him!

Good luck with your new toy!

Marsh, you taking the Trad route on your elk hunt??? I know I am. They are a LOT lighter also, (and that is huge at 11K feet) another plus to the fun side of archery.

I will bet you that compound will not get used much anymore. And welcome to the trad world.

TWP, I'm taking my trad bow to Australia next month for a red stag rut hunt. The outfitter makes it sound just like elk hunting here so it aught to be a blast! I'm also taking it on a guided elk hunt in Sept in CO.

Man, the fun with trad bows never ends!

Good deal! Like Deb said, work on form. Bisch is right, it will take time to become proficient. Don't give up on it as the stars will align for you one day.
I love Trad archery! When I get good at it I will probably love it more!!

Marshrat, You sound just like me today shooting from 10 yards and having the time of my life! I tried to shoot the target at 20 yards after shooting about 100 arrows and it fell in line with the bullseye about 2 feet below? I tried it again and had the same result even though I was looking where I wanted it to go. I figure I'll stay at 10 and get my form working before I venture out again. Glad to have a another new guy to share the adventure of trial and error with.

Bisch, didn't know they did red deer hunts on the mainland? Only knew of NZ. Bet that will be an amazing hunt. During the roar/rut? Where abouts in Colorado are you going?

PS I still haven't forgotten about a possible bighorn ewe hunt in MT. Gonna be up there in March/April talking to some biologists.

TWP, The red deer in Australia, from the pics I have seen, appear to be like the ones here, not nearly as massive as the ones in NZ. We will be hunting in unit 55, near Gunnison, in CO with AEI Outfitters.

Keep me informed on the bighorn thing. That would truly be a trophy even if a ewe!

Yes sir!!! Crested Butte is pretty much heaven on earth for this little guy. You are gonna have fun up there. If it is an early hunt you are gonna be at timberline most of the time. Nothing better IMO, but then again I've never been to Africa, Australia, NZ or anywhere else...but I'm working on it.

Is 55 draw or OTC? Knew they changed some units up there a while back.

Congrats on the new toy. Now your yard will have plenty of new CE arrows to eat. Being funny Bud!!! But it's going to happen. Practice on form and have fun.
