Recent pictures of my bow I am building

Here are some pictures from this weekend of my bow I am building. The previous pictures can be found at this link.http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...d.php?t=263911

I put the zebra wood on it last Wednesday or so. I got time this weekend to trim it up and clean up the huge glue mess. I rounded all the edges and rough sanded it. I lost a little weight, but I expected that. I am about 43# at 28". I exptect it to be closer to 40# when I am done.

I shot it at 24" and 26" draw length yesterday. The pictures below show the first 5 arrows at each draw length.

From back to belly through the handle I have: Zebra wood, hickory, redo oak, popler, red oak, then cedar.

That is a beautiful bow and it appears to shoot great too.

Looking good, all these build threads lately have really been catching my attention. Maybe sometime this spring or summer I'll have to give one a try.

What should I use to seal the bow?

True oil works wonders for sealing. The last one I built, I used spray on poly.

Good looking bow and nice shooting.

I've used Berchwood Casey Tru-oil on gun stocks using progressively finer steel wool between coats and it looks great, and holds up. I guess it would work just as well on a bow.

Looks like a good bow. Congrats!

Looking good. Tru-Oil is used by some of the pro bowyers, and is hard to beat. I sometimes use a wipe-on polyurethane or tung oil. If I want a nce low gloss finish real fast, I use Deft satin Cear Wood Finish spray, which is actually a lacquer.
