Modifying Draw Length on a Reezen?

How difficult is it to change the draw length on a Reezen? I have a friend that I want to give the bow to but his DL is 27.5" and my bow is currently at 30". How difficult is this to change and what kind of cost would I be looking at?

    Thanks.

I'm not a Mathews guy, but I'd guess that you're just looking at a draw length module change. Probably $40-$50 for the module at most any Mathews authorized shop.

If you buy from a shop the cam is about $80 and $20 for labor, that would be on the high end. I have heard (only hear say) that some shops will just swap cams with you if they have the right size and you just pay for labor. I just bought one from a guy on AT and it was $47.00 shipped and I will put it on myself. Mine is for a DXT. Just to be fair I would tell him between $50 and $100 to get the right cam for his DL.

I stand corrected.....but it was just a WAG, since no one had answered him in 2 hours

Thanks for the feedback. This is a trade, he doesn't bow hunt but has family in Kansas and there was a 177" shot off their land opening day of rifle season. He's getting us access to free private land in KS, in trade I get him set up to bow hunt. I was buying a new bow this year anyways, now what was going to be my back up bow will be his primary bow.

Im not a Mathews guy but I'm guessing your draw weight will be affected as well, when you switch cams for a shorter draw length. I may be wrong but I think you might gain draw weight when you change.

I would do some more research.

All you will need is a new cam in the proper draw lenth. Draw weight will not change and you will use the same string and cables.......just a simple cam swap is all you will need.

Will it still shoot the same size arrows or do you need new arrows to fit the set up after they change cams

I'll keep my current arrows for my new bow and he will be getting some cut for his DL.

I suppose in theory if you were changing from a longer DL to a shorter then you could use the old arrows, but if increasing DL then you would probably want longer arrows to prevent using too short of an arrow, did you see the pictures of the guy at Bass Pro with the arrow through the back of his his thumb?

You can usually find the cam you need on either ebay or AT Classifieds. I just bought a 27.5 DXT cam from the AT Classifieds and it didn't take very long to get it in. Of course it is used and but I was willing to take the chance. It sounds like you are really getting a great deal with the bow trade for hunting rights in KS. If I might make a suggestion with out offending anyone. With the cost of hunting being what it is I think I would set the trade bow up right for your buddy. Take it to a good Pro. Archery shop let them change the cam, set it up for him and get it tuned up and the correct arrow spine and length. He will shoot a whole lot better if it is done right the first time then the rest is up to him. What bow are you looking at for yourself? Just curious with all the new ones out there this year.
                          Good Luck and God Bless.

I agree, I'm setting him up all the way, even buying all the stands and other stuff we will need.

I'm leaning towards Elite, but need to go shoot them first, which I cannot do until the end of March or early April.
