Question for you guys who own lots of trad bows

Do you have a different set of arrows for each bow? My specific question - if I bought a recurve of the same draw weight as my longbow, what are the chances the same arrows would fly true out of it?

I shoot the same arrows from my recurve and longbow but my selfbow has its own arrows.

I have several that share arrows. Sometimes you may have to change point weight but that is no big deal.

Each bow has it's own set of wood arras.
With carbons I shoot the same Gold Tip 3555 Trads in all my bows as the bows don't seem to care with these.

Currently all my bows have their own sets of arrows, but that is because each of them are very different in some aspect, mainly draw weights or shelf desgin. If you had two bows that are very close in draw weight and shelf design you could get one set of arrows to fly good from both, but they may fly better from one than the other. There are a lot of different varables in play and all have to match for one set to fly perfect from two different bows.

Yep each one shoots it's own woody and I shoot gold tip 3555's with different point weight for each bow..... But all my bows shoot a .500

Given that your SR/BR is a quick bow it would be reasonable that you could get a recurve of the same DW and use the same arrows.. especially carbons where you could swap tip weight pretty easy.

I have different arrows for different bows, but some bows shoot the same arrows as others. I haven't shot a lot of woodies though and most of my arrows are carbons.

I have a longbow and a recurve that shoot the same arrow. I would say that if the bows are similarly constructed, i.e. have somewhat similar risers with the centercut of the riser identical, then you can do it. The centercut of the shelf, I think, is the biggest thing. If you have one bow that is centercut it will handle a much stiffer arrow than one that is not cut to center. Even 1/8" will make a BIG difference.

As Mike stated above, you can also do this with carbons by switching tip weight, but to me, then that is a different arrow and you would have to make sure you have the correct ones with each bow.

I've got a couple bows at similar weights madeby the same bowyer so it's easy to get them to shoot the same arrows. If i need to tinker I just adjust the point weight up or down 50 grains

Thanks for all the input. As predicted by many around here, I am already thinking about buying trad bow #2 - a recurve. After my frustrating first experience at arrow-tuning for my longbow (finally figured that one out) I am hoping I can use the same arrows with another bow. If all I have to do is change tip weight, I'd be happy with that.

Let me slide in under the wire! Same arrows with different bows. My bows run close to the same draw weight and I have been fortunate enough to be able to use the same arrows.

So did you ever figure out what was causing the arrow to kick off the shelf? Was it your release, arrow spine, nock set, combo of all???

                              Thanks,
                              Matt
