    Bow Stand for Ground Blinds

I know you have seen bow stands on the net where you burry a rod in the ground and the bends allow them to hold the bow.

I had seen another type of Bow Stand out on the market and was hard to come by. Well my friend Tony and I decided to venture on our own and make some for ourselves.

I must say, it turned out better than expected.

We used chopped carbon arrows to make the legs.

We cut some field points in half to make the screw in parts for the carbon arrow legs and welded them to the plate.

Neatest thing is they can be removed and put in the quiver for storage or when transporting the bow.

I shot with it on and had some vibration, but that will be fixed with some stabilizer dampeners as well as some end cover for the arrows legs.

Got to say it works great in the blind or for picture taking.

This is just the prototype and plan on making it cleaner and better.

I will have to say that your idea of welding the field points on in order to make it removable is a great idea. I made almost the exact same thing for my bow, but I used 1/4" round stock. Looks like I will be copying your idea, if you dont mind? Nice setup.

I always had trouble with the legs when I would put my bow in the back of my truck or seat, so I decided to make them removeable for when I am not using them.

Just a suggestion, when you are going to weld the field points onto the plate, make sure you drill some holes on the plate for the field point to slip into and weld them on th opposite side. That way the welds won't be in the way. That is something we should have done but didn't think of it till after the prototype was done.

That's some good stuff right there. We are going to have to come up with a BS of Bowhunting Engineering for some of you guys! I'm going to have to do something like that for use in the blind. Great idea Sergio - and a nice way to recycle some of your old arrows.

I made some of these a few years ago. I didn't like shooting with them on my bow and it was too hard to remove before a shot. I have had another idea where the bracket would be a two piece and you could lift the bow up and the legs would stay in the ground....gotta go to my shop now.

The one thing I don't like about those designs is the bottom cam (aluminum) is in contact with the ground, dirt (serving) and pebbles- and in my life whatever can go wrong, usually has. Gor that reason I like my sight close to the riser, a short Doinker stablizer, and with the quiver I set it down with the string parallel to the ground. Yes, my sight is just above the ground, but I'm worried less about it getting chewed up.

I've seen lots of the top 3d shooters using that holder I posted the link to, they outshoot me so they're doing something right.

Very cool, i cheaped out and bought the kickstand type that snaps on the bottome limb of the bow, works great though!

                            great job sergio,
you might consider adding inserts to both end of the carbon arrows then you can add some bludgen/rubber arrow tips to help with stability in sand and soft ground. JMO
