One of the whippersnapper guides on the ranch named this buck Papa Chalo early last week. He named him after on of the older guides and my brother in law, who is a few month younger than me..... See Chalo hurt his leg a few weeks ago as he got into the jeep and when this buck came out, he was posturing to another buck and as he was doing that, his back leg kept popping as he was walking,....causing a heavy limp. You could tell this deer was old as dirt and who knows how he got by us for so long.
What normally happens is clients don't want to shoot these bucks while on their trip for not messing up their hunt, and who blames them. Well I was on doe patrol and headed out to a pit blind. As I glanced to the right here came Papa Chalo straight into the feed pen. when he harassed the youngsters in there, he came out for a nibble for on the hand corn. At 15 yards he got a slick trick through the heart.....
After a quick 50 yard track with crimson on the ground, he died in an area where I could drive my bronco to....
No more Papa Chalo!
