    Rip Cord Drop rest???

i have a Hoyt Trykon xl 28 1/2" draw @ 70 # and shooting Easton excel St 340 arrows with blazers. last night i sprayed some foot powder on my rest and it looks like my 2 bottom vanes are making a little contact on the Y part that holds the arrow. How can i fix this? is my knock point to low? rest sits flat when in the down position.

also do you wrap the Y in anything. mine had some moleskin on it and i think that is what my vanes are hitting. it was starting to come off so i took it off last night. I think I’m going to put some heat shrink wrap on it instead of the mole skin. will this work or what’s the best thing to use?

i got the ripcord code red and ive never experienced any problem like your describing. I dont wrap my rest in anything either, they should be ready to go and work without anyproblems.

I imagine they are gunna make a little contact but is it like rippin the vanes off or something?

i have the older style and the Y is just plastic. the code red looks like it has some type of rubber coating on it. it’s just a slight contact.

you can adjust the timing with the cord. if your making contact with the fletching its not dropping fast enought to clear. try sliding the cord down the cable alittle. this will start the drop faster and should clear the fletchings.

Take a look at a pic of the Code Red "Y". The part that's red, I cut a similar shape out of moleskin and voila. As far as the timing goes, make sure your elevation is good first. Then, if necessary, shorten the release line.

I wouldnt take the mole skin off becuase you might have some noise from the arrow bouncing around or when you draw back.

I have a piece of moleskin on the bottom of the Y. i just took the pieces off the 2 forks. the rest lays flat and i will re-check the timing to see if the release line need to be shorten.

yeah this is what i was worried about. i left the bottom piece of moleskin in the bottom part of the Y. i am going to add some heat shrink to the 2 post on the Y. i would think that the heat shrink will be almost the same as the rubber coating on the code red.

If you want, you can order a code red fork for about $5.00 or $10.00 something very close to that, and I believe it should go right on to your rest. If not, you will definately want some type of thin moleskin in the bottom of the Y because it will make a ton of noise when you draw if you plan to hunt.

Next. Spray the foot powder on your fletching not the rest. Contact will knock the powder off the fletch and should leave a little residue on the rest, cable or wherever it is hitting. If the vanes are making contact with the rest because the rest is not dropping in time, then lengthen the cord of your rest about an 1/8 inch at a time until you get clearance. You want it to stay up as long as it can without having fletching contact. If by some chance your vanes are striking the rest after the rest has dropped completely and your cock vane is straight up, then something does not sound right in your set up. Your knock point should be somewhere between perfectly square off the string to just slightly knock high. Maybe easier to adjust the rest than your sting loop if you are able. Once you are able to get clearance then check your tune. Best of luck to you.

i was able to get it to shoot last night with no contact. i removed the moleskin on the 2 upright post on the Y and replace it with some heat shrink. i left the moleskin in the bottom of the Y. i also adjusted the length of the cord about 1/16 to 1/8".

now i just need to check to make sure it’s still tuned.
                        Thanks

Duct tape to quiet the arrow on the rest.

nail polish usually works on my ripcords and drop aways,,, noise is damped, and you dont have to worry about moleskin geting wet or falling off..

@adgerc15 no, not when i draw back but when you take your bow off the hook or just anytime you are moving your bow around the arrow can move
