The story started about 9 months ago when my son began moving blinds, filling feeders, taking pictures, ect. The place he hunts is 80 acres so I figured he had everything run off. Not the case. He shows up a month ago with a picture of this deer. Just about wore me out with the I cant waits. Opening morning finally came and this deer comes in around the feeder for over an hour but for numerous reasons he just cant get a good shot. 1 hour and no shot, what the heck! Now the wind is wrong for his stand so he doesnt hunt for a while. Finally Sunday at dinner he cant stand it anymore so he goes down there and sets up a make-shift blind on the other side of his feeder out of cedar trees. Slips in for a Sun. eve. hunt and nothing. At dark he runs by the owners house and he is laughing because the buck spent all afternoon under a feeder near his house. Murphy must be moving in! Off to college Mon. morning with strict instructions not to scimp on class work, period. Thursday evening shows up at home getting ready for a friday morning hunt. Something about your hunting bud at school can take notes for you in your Fri. morning classes. We are still working on that one. Friday morning in the make-shift blind the buck comes in running off the other deer. 31 yards, under the feeder, quartering away, the money shot was true. A 70 yard dash and he was done. A very deserving young man, who wore me out, but also worked very hard harvested a super deer. The deer was 5 and scored 147 7/8.
