Hope I did the right thing.

I just bought a Cannon EOS Rebel T3i. It came with a 18-55mm lens and I also bought a 55-250mm lens to go with it.

Now my problem is I know nothing about it or how to use it.

If you have any suggestions, comments, websites, or anything you may can think of that would help me out please feel free.

I have the same feeling as when I bought my first bow some 35 years ago.

Somebody here mentioned that site, and it is AWESOME!

    Good luck!

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. Get this book Scott. It will make you get into the camera's manual as well.

I recently bought a T3i as well and am new to digital SLR's. I have found that froknowsphoto to be very helpful and informative.

Thanks everyone, I played with it a little on full auto today. I can not believe the difference. I have seen and been in photos from decent cameras before, but until you see it for your self from a photo you took....well, I am just rambling now, I might have just found a new passion.

Close up of a flower... notice the sand on the flower.

I don't know if you will be able to see the detail on the dog or flower that I can with the original pic, but I am blown away.

That's the same exact set up I have and love it!
            The pics are outstanding!

            My suggestion,,,, read the manual.
Ok, not all of it, but the "Advanced" section. You'll learn a lot.

After looking at this post, you can't see the detail. In the original you can count hairs on the dog, read the street sign as if you were standing right there and see grains of sand on the flower.

Read the manual and watch the dvds that come with the camera. They helped me a ton. The Canon seems more user friendly than the Nikon I had, but I like the quality pictures of my old Nikon a little better. Not enough to sell the Canon though, and go back just yet.

Awesome site!!! Once you get past the silliness that he sometimes does, he has GREAT information and breaks it down pretty good.

I have been a fan of his site since I stepped up my photography.

Congrats!!!!!!!!! & enjoy! I know the feeling - it was four years that I went from a fujifilm camera to my Nikon D60 and although the fujifilm too great photos - the Nikon really stepped up! I'm about to upgrade my camera body and there are some great books available - you might look for your camera body to see what's available - some of them are cheaper on my kindle which is sort of handy.

Dig around on ebay.. There are folks that make videos of how to use certain cameras and their settings.

Basically they go thru everything operational.. then they go to a park and show you all the cool features and settings and how to take different kind of pics.

I bought the video for my Nikon like that when I got it and sure made a big difference for me.
