    What The Heck?!?!?!?!?!

I was sitting in my backyard tree stand this afternoon practicing and something strange happened. I had shot 4 arrow without any unusual sounds, etc, and on the fifth one, it sounded like a dry-fire (at least I think it did, 'cause I've never done one before). I reached back to my quiver and still had 3 arrows, and looking at the target area couldn't see #5 although I could see 1-4 in the target. Looked over the bow and found no defects, string was OK.

Bow is a Hoyt Power Tec 1000, shooting Easton 2215s at 62 lbs. Got down, walked to the target and there was the 5th shaft--about a foot high and right of the spot I was aiming at. Pulled and walked back and picked up the bow and discovered the peep was gone. No broken strands, just a missing peep, with the serving above and below the string still there.

I still haven't been able to figure out what happened--

So--I'll be going to the shop next week to get a new peep and have the bow checked out.

String is about 5-6 months old, with maybe 500 arrows down range. Guess it could be some string issue, but will see the maker/installer next week.

Is there a chance that you didn't click the knock all the way in?

This has actually happened to me.

Wasn't a premature release--but the bow tech I talked with said the same thing about the nock not being completely seated on the string.
