Corn Holio Question (heh, heh, heh...)

I'm just about finished with my hog barrel. I found other sites that states to use 5/8" size holes for the corn to fall out. I just went out and measured some corn and that size is gonna cut it really close.

I want the corn to fall out pretty easily so I am going to step up to a 3/4" size. Since its going to fall out easier I am thinking less holes but can't decide where to even begin on the number of holes. My question is how many holes should I drill? Any help would be appreciated from you pvc pig pipe people.

    Thanks in advance.

More than 3 and less than 2000.

I would start with the smaller holes. You can always make them larger later if needed.....

start with smaller holes and half about 1' apart.... they idea is to keep em working on it... i had too many in mine and they would empty 50# a night!

Drill a few. Put corn in it and kick it around. If it doesn't put out as much as you want, drill more.

We put in 1/2" holes, probably only ten or so. It's keeps them interested and makes them work, without them being able to empty it in a night.

If this is in an hour you can stalk to or hear from the house, I'd suggest putting a bell on the pipe. The bell on mine has been the demise of a couple of pigs.

Throw in a few rocks larger than the biggest hold you drilled before you fill it with corn. It'll still make racket for the hogs to think there's more corn in there.
