    reshaped my shelf

I have an old Pearson that had the old straight or flat shelf on it and the bow was cut 1/8 from center. Well I wanted to change it that so I grabbed my rasp and some sand paper and went to town. I only paid $16 for it and some arrows and broadheads at a yard sale(I always say I would rent or lease my yard, not sell it,ha,ha,ha) so if I really muffed it up I wasn't going to be out a whole lot. I do not think that I did a bad job on it. I shot it afterwards and it seemed to shoot alright, it is still pretty quiet. I am still thinking of putting a bushing in it for an elevated rest. Has anyone done this? And does anyone have pics?
    Thanks,

Just use bear hair. Leave about a 1/8" gap between the hair rest and the strike plate. Just make sure the hair is pointed down range.

It was not until I looked in this thread that I realized the topic said "reshaped my shelf," and not "reshaped my self." I was like wow, what did you do....break a leg or something? What does that have to do with traditional archery? He he he!

Anyway, it has been a weird day.

Lets see some pics of your new self, err um, shelf!

Speaking of shelf, I read somewhere that the high point of the shelf should be inline with the lowest point on your grip (basically where the "V" between your thumb and index finger meets the grip). I was thinking about raising up my shelf in that spot. Can anyone comment on this?

This thread is useless without pics.

i used to help people do this to old recurves a lot. you can use a wooden match stick or a piece of leather and raise the arrow off the flat shelf a bit. Yes you do want to do it directly over the deepest part of the handgrip as this is considered the sweet spot. Use some seal skin or bear hair and you are good to go. Do not forget to adjust the nock point a bit higher as well

If you seen this ole bow you would know why there ain't pics of it. Eric has seen it though, and heard it, well tried to, it is so darn quiet.
