I really wasn't excited about opening weekend because the deer just weren't hitting the feeders at my lease. Then out of the blue, my buddy calls me and asks what my plans are for opening weekend. He then proceeds to tell me about a 5000 thousand acre South Texas ranch that him and another buddy are going to that is loaded with mature deer and wants to know If I want to go. Of course my first question is, what does it cost and he tells me it is only $700 and I can kill a Mature buck under 140, a doe, hogs and a havi. Knowing my buddy wouldn't steer me wrong, I jumped all over it. To make a long story short, we all made perfect shots and I killed a mature buck, a doe and 2 hogs. We all had a blast and will be going back again this year. I haven't been to many day leases before but I can't imagine the hunting being any better for the price and can't wait to go back when the deer are really hitting the corn.
