    traditional bowhunter mag.

I usually buy the magizine, now I have not done so for a while now. The thing I have a B&M (@#$%$ and moan) is that the last time I looked at it, it was filled completely up with adds. So much more than I have seen before they could not put the tradtional harvest in there. That was one of the whole reasons I bought it for. Some just to prove to folks who say you have to use #70+ to kill critters and the bows do not have to go 300+ fps. I would never argue that it makes it easier. I feel sometimes that I have an unfair advantage over some folks when I shoot my compound, but that usually turns the advantage the other way when I shoot my recurve(lack of skills)

They disguise those ads with ALL those pics of pretty, new bows! Just kidding, there are a few ads but I still like the magazine alot. One thing I have always liked about TBM is that the stories run start to finish...no skipping to page 95 for the end of the story...just makes it easier to read. Come to think of it, my new issue is sitting at home in the wrapper...just showed up last Thursday. I need to get that thing out and get to reading!!!

It seems to be getting a few more adds, but it is still the best magazine out there from my way of thinking. In the other magazines, it seems that all you are buying are the adds. I just don't care to spend my money one a set of adds that I don't need in the first place. I make most of my equipment, from bows , arrows, and feathers. I like to see how other people do their things in hunting and setting up to hunt. I guess I just like to hear from people that are just plain folk and not a lot of the experts. I know that I can learn a lot from other people, that have been there done that, if given the chance to hear what they have to say.
TB is not perfect, but I also know that they need to make a few bucks to stay in business. So I guess I can put up with a little of the adds as long as they go ahead with the basic information and experiences that got them where they are.

TBM is the only traditional archery magazine in my opinion.

Hey Cropduster, do you subscribe to the Bowyers Journal? I haven't yet but I hear it is a great magazine also...especially for the "do it yourself-ers".

That is the one mag I look forward to getting and the guys running the place seem like fine gentlemen.

The BJ is a cross between Primitive Archer and TBM. Its shaping up to be a good magazine. Brien's doing a real good job on it.

TBM has some good pro staffers. There is really only one of them I have numerous disagreements with. He has a BIG following amongst would-be swing draw archers so I usually just sit quietly by while they sing their praises of him. No thanks, I'll pass. Never seen more men infatuated with another till someone mentions his name. Then these dudes just start drooling. Sorta like we do when BUFF or Chunky walk by.

I'll take the Lonestar Bowhunter or Bowyers Journal over TBM, but TBM over all others except these two. TBM's #3 for me.

I really need to sign up for Bowyers Journal...I get the other 2. One of the things I really like about TBM is the articles on making stuff and I hear Bowyers Journal has ALOT of those type articles.

I have read it as well, I think it is a better mag. The only thing traditional bowhunter has that I like right now, are all the G.Fred stuff that he has had published with them lately. I try to support folk that come from Rockville if I can. But I won't buy it just cause he has a spot and that is the only thing in it I want to read that month.

I'm not saying the guy's not a good person, just saying we disagree on a lot of stuff.

Of course, he's been doing it a few years longer than me and I've been known to change my mind from time to time.

I like reading some of his stuff. You would think he is big enough to where tons of folks would know who he is around here, but they don't really.
I am still wishing that I could "take a pill to shoot like Howard Hill"(part of a Steve Shedd's song) then I would not have to worry about reading his articles!

I like his stuff when he's telling a hunting story. I just find his instructional material other than suitable to my style and needs though. I've been told that I have a unique shooting style. Seems fine to me.
