    CCBA Invitational Shoot

Just returned home from the CCBA Shoot. Great set up and many new Reinhart Targets. I enjoyed the course set up!

Steve - thanks again for walking me through the Hagerman Qualifier.

        shoot

I like to personally thank the CCBA for the Ivitational Tournament today. This was my sons first tournament and my first in over fifteen years. I honestly can tell you that I forgot how much fun a bow shoot could be. The course was very competitive but also was set up nicely for us newbies. It was very organized and the members were very friendly.
My son shot in the youth class and was second out of two but still earned a belt buckle for his efforts. I asked him a moment ago what he was doing and he told me he had been staring at his buckle for the last ten minutes..I would venture to say that he will treasure that buckle for the rest of his life.
Thanks Steve for the help with our bows!
Keep up the good work gang,
        Brian & Tyler

We had 80 shooters total and I think everyone enjoyed the way the course was set. It was challenging without being impossible.
I will get the scores up this afternoon, I hope. We worked on the course most of last week and with that and the heat, I am dragging right now, but I will for sure have the scores posted by tomorrow. There were really good scores in nearly every class.
I shot my personal best of 331 in the recurve class and was the first loser.

Congrats Wayne, I'm glad to hear that you had alot of shooters. Maybe with a little more planning I will be able to make that shoot next year.

As far as Trad only shoots go, that was a good weekend. Cowtown will host the Winter shoot the last weekend of Feb. and the Recurve shoot will now be last weekend of June. It is impossible to schedule around compound shoots and trad shoots. Our main concern with this one is to stay off any Trad only shoots. There was nothing posted anywhere stating when CCBA 's shoot was actually taking place when everyone was setting schedules. The dates came out a month later and were on the same as our shoot. All the area clubs meet every year in Ft. Worth and set their Major shoots and then try and work together to set club shoots so there is only one place to shoot so everyone gets full attendance. I will send info on the meeting when it is planned. It has definately helped the clubs that attend.

huntinpool, please let us know when you guys plan to have the meeting. I would like to attend if possible. The more we can work together on this the better our attendance should be. Obviously, with so many shoots going on, there will always be some conflicting dates, but if we minimize that, we all should benefit. I was not aware that you guys were getting together to try to work this out.

Wayne, I will let you know. It is usually in November so all the clubs can have there info ready by the new year. Moah, everyone else is setting there's in Nov., and Dec. I guess that's why we didn't know when ya'll were shooting.

                            Todd and Todd,

Here's the thread I started last December in an effort to keep the bigger Traditional Shoots from stepping on each others toes.

You can start at post #23 and work down from there to see what transpired re: the CCBA Invitational and the Recurve Championship scheduling conflict. You can ignore the problem with Terry's weight as just a side issue. Also, the Recurve Championship last year was in August and didn't conflict with another shoot.

I filled in and changed the question marks in a separate thread as more schedule information became available, but then later decided to drop it as it just didn't seem to be accomplishing anything.

Here's the link to the thread.

Thanks Dusty, I looked up the thread last week to see when we set the date.
Cowtown will host the Winter Trad shoot last weekend of Feb. and the Recuve Championship will be last weekend of June. We are sticking with this format due to the spacing of the Bigger Trad shoots so everyone can travel to them without shooting out of town back to back. Flyers for both are already printed along with new score cards and signup sheets. It also helps with the scheduling of our club and ASA shoot schedules with the other clubs.
