shutter flaps?

has anyone ever heard of removing your shutter flaps on a canon rebel ?

Other than replacing a broken one, why would someone do that? Never heard of it.

me either but i got a rebel xsi from a girl that done it and i want to get it fixed back it takes good pictures now but when shooting in the creative zone you have to keep your Evaluative meter around -1.5 to -2 so the picture isnt washed out

are they hard to replace

I Googled both "shutter flaps" and "shutter blades" and found no reason why someone would intentionally remove them. I suppose it doesn't matter why they were removed, since you already know you want them replaced. For me, it would be outside my comfort zone to dive into my camera to that degree. I would take it to a good camera shop and get a price quote. Good luck.
