Cameron and I had a chance to hunt a fairly new day lease operation this weekend.
The Tenroc Ranch located conveniently in Central Texas in the town of Salado. A mere 25 minutes from my house. The ranch offers several exotic hunts, tons o' turkey hunts, feral hog madness hunts and extreme trophy whitetail. The accommodations are right where comfort and cost meet. First class accommodations.
Cameron chillin' in the media/living room.
Ranch foreman, Sam Stephens's son Walker in the kitchen (My personal favorite place)
Extremely clean and comfortable snooze palace.
and of course cozy quarters following that large meal.
I was hunting for a big feral hog or a Texas Doll Ram. I had tons of chances at smaller meat hogs and even made a draw and serious consideration on a Texas Doll Ram but in the end gave him a pass in hopes of Charmayne taking one for me next time we visit.
The stands are awesome, very comfortable. I hunted all night over a lighted feeder and had several encounters with hogs and white tail. "Tuskers" didn’t show but I know he and his friends lurk in the draw and it is a matter of time.
Chilling in the tower blind
8 porkers in front of a picky hunter.
Turkey galore visits the blind.
It was a great weekend meeting new friends and always love spending time with my son. Sam was a great host who will jump through hoops to make things happen the way you want it too. I left with a huge smile on my face and the only reason my cooler was empty was because I am stupid but that is another story in itself.
I will definitely be back. Looking forward to seeing the 200+ bucks in October. Being a man of modest means it’s always nice to find a value, the “Gold Nugget”
