What do yall think about planting small food plots on public land?? Is it legal and if so what is the best plot to put it in on a small area.

I don't think they would let you do it, but you might just throw out some oates and get them to come up.

I believe you could get in trouble most of the public lands (WMAs) also do double duty for biology students studying everything plants and wildlife. It may be a little funny for the biologist to discover a small oat patch in the middle of the river bottoms. you could kill out a entire population of some wierd cricket that only eats weeds.

I don't know about all public land, but around Grapevine Lake it's specifically prohibited. Not to say that it might not get done, but it's not legal. I suspect most public land is the same. Check it out before you get caught by the authorities.

So just a little throw and grow would be my best bet providing it is legal

There is a company and I can't remember who it was but they a little bag called hot spot. It is suppossedly blended with seeds of stuff that doesn't need a whole lot of light. It is for small areas deep in the woods. My dads buddy uses it in So Mo and likes it. Says it usually comes in well. I think there are fall and spring blends also. Might be Tecomate.

If no one else would find it, it might work out. But if folks are tromping around and find a big green patch, you can bet they will hunt it.
