    Photoshop Elements 8

Anyone use it? I would like to get some editing software to make my shots look better, but I really dont want to spen $300 on lightroom. Any other good options?

Do you have a kid in school, or do you or your wife work at a school or other qualifying place? If so, Lightroom is very affordable at places like this:

I used PS Elements 5 for several years until Adobe persuaded me to upgrade to CS4 with a greatly reduced price. You can use Camera Raw with Elements as well. It's a nice program, at least v5.0 was.

I have Elements 8. I really like it. Easy to use, and lots of functionality for editing. The price was great when I got mine, my fiance bought it for $29 during Christmas sales from Costco. But, it's more expensive now.

not trying to steal the thread but what would you prefer for the people that have used both photoshop 8 or lightroom 2?

if your looking for a free solution you can try GIMP...I personally haven't used it but I have heard good things about it, very comparable to photoshop

I've used Gimp. I like it a lot and still use it sometimes. It's free and can do everything I need.

I've used Paint.net. Also free and can do everything I've ever needed.

I got Elements 8 for Christmas and like it a lot, I've used LR 3 Beta, and I think I prefer Elements for editing.

Also, picnik.com is pretty good for quick crop, straightening, resize type editing. They have a premium membership where you can edit levels and whatnot, but I haven't tried that.
