    Budget Food Plots

Question on food plots, What do wish you would have done different?
Method of prepairing ground, seeding, and types of seeds planted.
I don't have a tractor, and I'm not going to do a really large area, bout 1/2 acre. Just looking to shorten the learning curve, and pics would be awesome to see the process you did.

    Thanks in advance,
    Todd

My biggest problem is the amount of rain fall, but this year I have my best stance of oats
mostly becuz the good rains we are getting. I used my 4-wheeler and a roll up section harrow to work up my roads and around the feeders. I just threw the seed out by hand and ran over the seed with the harrow a few more times, just hope the rains keep coming. I'am planning to plant some more in the next week are so I will try and take some pics.

Here's one I did with my 4 wheeler and a piece of train rail with spikes welded to it. It did a decent job and I planted oats and rye.

Did my first fall plot this year, planted it two weeks ago(oats and winter peas). Spray roundup. Use something to loosen dirt(old tooth harrow), spread seed right and pull tooth harrow back across(right before a rain) and then watch it grow. Mines already drawing deer in I've never seen before and its only 2 inches tall. Spring plots are a little different because of the weeds that will come up and choke stuff out. Good Luck.

Here's some recent pics of my plot from this past weekend. The plot looks real good but the deer are not eating it I guess to much browse and everything else to eat. Oh well looks good walking up to it in the dark looks like a green runway with the dew.
