So I bought a bow out of the classifieds, thank you BOWLEG;)b
It was for my wife, a pink Parker Sidekick. She's been shooting it as much as she can. We've had highs and lows but she has finally, consistantly started putting it right where she wants.

I don't let her shoot at the same spot now because she is down to 3 good arrows. She is shooting 75gr Muzzy broadheads. She has sat with me before when I hunt out of a groundblind, now it's her turn. We're headed to Coleman this weekend in hopes of her harvesting her first deer and doing it with a bow at that. Wish us luck and I will be updating to let you guys know how it's going.

A few ? about Colorado Elk hunting...rifle

A friend of mine and his business partner have some property in the western Colorado mountains that borders one of the National Forests, and has been after me for years to go elk hunting with him, I've just never been able to make the timing work. Well, I told him that I would find a way to make it in 2010. He's deer hunting right now with no mobile service and I've been sitting here wondering about a few things.

We will be hunting the last part of October, but will that be for rifle only, meaning that you can only use archery equipment during a specified archery season? As for actually hunting elk post-rut, is the most effective way, spot and stalk, as opposed to still hunting? Do elk only respond to calling during their rut? I use a Winchester Supreme 140gr ballistic tip for deer sized game in my 7mm mag, but I think I'll be wanting a heavier bullet for elk, suggestions please. I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions, but these are the one's that are coming to me right now, so educate me. :D I'm also interested in any other suggestions or tips. Thanks, guys.

OK, I don't like using google because I can't stand the word. Sure I know it was created by a nine year old, but that's exactly why we don't allow 9 year olds to create words. 'cause they'll sound like something a baby would say. OK, now that I'm done ranting for the aforementioned reason I've always used yahoo. However, I'm tired of seeing they're anti-hunting, animal rights ads  and decided that (although it's not popular on TBH to do so) I'm going to protest by not using their engine any more. So...long story short I need a suggestion on a search engine that's not Yahoo or Google. Anyone? I may also have to stop using Yahoo mail. Any suggestions on a suitable replacement for that would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.
If my arrow falls off of my rest one more time I may loose it!! Only problem is I'm a novice at best when it comes to adjusting anything on my bow. How difficult is it to sight it back in once I make the switch? Can I do it and be ready to hunt again pretty soon or should I wait until the off season to make any adjustments? Thanks in advance

Last night at 6:45PM my grandpa went home. Elwood Glen Jeans passed away at the age of 74. He was admitted to the hospital in Detroit 22 days ago. He was diagnosed with diverticulitis - last Friday he underwent surgery to remove some of his colon and recieve a colostomy bag. During surgery the doctors discovered his cancer had returned and had spread. The doctors told him he was terminal and due to how aggressive and how much it had spread that he had little time left. On top of all this his heart was failing. He needed surgery but the doctors informed us that it was unlikely he would survive the surgery and if he did his cancer would be too much and his quality of life in the short time he had left would have been in a hospital bed hooked up to machines. He remained in the hospital until Thurs. of this week. Thurs. morning he went home where he was surrounded by family, he sat in his rocking chair in front of the tv to watch one of his westerns, he loved his old westerns. He fell asleep while watching his show and he did not wake up.

Grandpa was a simple man. He was a hardworker. He loved his family. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back. He was a loving husband to my grandma for 55 years.

Since he lived in Michigan my time spent with him was never what I would have liked it to be. However he did make it to my wedding in 2007 and he got to see my son in Feb. of this year - 1 month after Wyatt was born. He always made sure that he came down to visit after both of my deployments. He was a good man and will be dearly missed.

When I found out last fri. the results of his surgery and that he was not expected to make it much longer I took it in stride. Over the years and due to my time in Iraq I feel/felt that I had become very numb to death - and I have to an extent but this one hurts. I am extremely thankful that he was at home surrounded by his family and asleep when he went home. I am thankful that this was not out of the blue like a car accident but that I was able to talk to him one last time and to be able to tell him I love him. We should all be so lucky to leave this world in such a way, he was definetly deserving of it.

I know that he is in Heaven and is no longer hurting and for that I am thankful. I would like for yall to say a quick prayer for my family as we morn the loss of such a wonderful man and especially for my Grandma Doras - I can't fathom what she must be going through right now.

Tell those important to you how you feel, live life to the fullest and do not take it for granted.

Thank You

R.I.P Grandpa

I have been skunked my last 6 trips out morning and evening. I keep getting TC pics of deer but they are always coming between 10 at night and 3 in the morning. Nothing gets my goat more than to sit and watch my feeder go off in the evening see no deer then come back in the morning and all my corn gone. I was seeing quite a few before the season started but now they have gone nocturnal I guess. Is there any hope for them coming back out?
