Check out the link below. This guy builds awesome cabins. I'm planning on building several of these little cabins for my ranch. Planning on building them at my house in town and moving out to the ranch. I've collecting all of the cool old stuff to build them off of craigslist and other places. Old doors, windows, clawfoot tub ect... Any suggestions on the best way to move these bad boys once I get them built? Anybody know how high and wide your load can be before you have to get some kind of permit? Thanks

Permit in Tx
14' is the legal height- over that a permit is required
102" wide, any wider a permit is required and I believe over 14' wide you have to have an escort- not positive but there are thresh holds on width, overhang and
height that require escorts.
You are allowed 4' overhang off back of trailer before permit required.
I have thought alot about building a cabin for the lease that can be moved at will, my thoughts are to build a metal sub frame, build cabin on top of that. Build the subframe where it would slide into a HD utility trailer( like a cab over camper concept on a pickup). The platform where the floor of cabin would be built on would be higher than the fenders/side rails of trailer. At each corner of floor base use a HD trailer jack, that way you can raise cabin, back trailer under, lower and secure, transport to location, use jacks to raise, pull trailer out, set blocks and lower and level the cabin out. On the metal sub frame I plan to weld pad eyes or the like to use as tie offs for tiedowns with augers used for mobilhomes. Just need to make sure the width between jacks are are wide enough to clear fenders/tires of utility trailer. I have not made it yet, but thats my idea on how to make it work for me.

Brushtrooper, thanks for all of the info. I think you have an awesome idea. There is also a thread on here where a guy built a cabin/camper on an old trailerhouse frame. He did a great job. I'm not sure that's not the best way to do it. Put the wheels on and move it. Take off wheels when you get there.
