Well, I got busted by a decent boar (150-175#) Saturday night around 6pm.
I saw him coming in from about 150 yards to my right...he took his time circling downwind and crossing me at about 45-yards then continueing to circle until he was 50-yards directly to my left. I hoped he'd calm down and come on in but he was inhaling large samples of air into his lungs and testing it for signs a foriegner...he definitely didn't like something but it did seem as though he was going to go for it...
I know he didn't see me but after about 15 anxious minutes with him close to range but not quite there, he grunted some throaty sounds that seemed too big for his body size then slowly slipped deeper into the bottoms.
Oh well, we are getting hit HARD right now so maybe next trip I'll send an arrow his way.
Also had a small doe and yearling fawn come in around 7pm and gave her a pass at about 16 yards...if she'd come in alone she might have had her ticket to Dallas punched but I ain't interested in orphaning a fawn in East Texas, I'm still trying to access what kind of deer herd we have there.
Anyway, I was very surprised that the boar winded me but the deer didn't???
How'd your opener go?
