For those of you who are inclined to spend hours on end melting steel together only to grind it back apart....all in the name of a 6000lb feeder, or perhaps a game hoist that would pluck a water buff right out of the billabong......there is an establishment you need to know about.

This is the stinkin coolest store around. Imagine Home Depot without all the crap that attracts half assed, city boy, yuppy types (you know, the one with the closet organizer in his buggy). Plus much, MUCH MORE! It would take forever to describe the coolness of their inventory, but let's put it this way.......A man could buy anything from a rivet.....to a small bull dozer there!

They have a great website, www.northerntool.com , and I've yet to find something on their website and not be able to walk in the store and lay hands on it. Every tool a true to life, full on, acetylene totin, weekend warrior could need in his arsenal can be had at Northern Tool and Equipment!

They even have freakin koozies yall!!!!!!!!

True Dat! I have one by the house as well. Bought a reconditioned Dewalt set there that didn't have a scratch on it. Lots of good stuff for trailers, trucks, and the old tool box.

I'll second that as well, I've even bought meat tanderizers and grinders there!! So it ain't just tools!!

Chew I saw where you were looking for a meat grinder. I picked up a #32 with a fly wheel at NT pretty cheap. I already had an electric motor but they have those too. Heck you can grind up a horse in hour with one of those.

Now I'll stay in trouble with the boss, Bass Pro 5 miles from the house and NT is 8 miles. I've got a parking space at NT I wonder how long before I get my own space at BP? :D

Man I hope this is a typo on their page. . .

Makita Cordless Rebar Cutter — 18 Volt, Model# SC190DWDE
Item# 1591980
Only $2399.99

I'm not sure if the picture will post, but if the rebar cutters are only $2400 I'll sign up for three or four!

Actually, I am a big fan of the place as well and their quality seems to be much higher than HF.

One itty bitty warning about Northern Tool though... always keep your receipt. I bought a trailer toolbox at the store on Belt Line and I-30. I failed to keep my receipt. It didn't fit my trailer and I brought it back the next day. They remembered me. I said, "I didn't keep the receipt, so I realize I can only get a store credit, not a refund." (I was fine with that.)

They punched it all into their computers and everything and it gave a store credit of only about 65% of what I had paid!

Here's the deal... they have a nation-wide computer system that drives everything. Without a specific computer-generated receipt number, their computer automatically gives you a store credit for the LOWEST price that item has EVER sold for! And the kicker is the employees can't over-ride the computer's system. Even when they remember you from the day before and know darn well you paid the current price for the item. I even talked to the store manager and he couldn't even over-ride the system.

You can even buy all the parts to build a Long Splitter from there:) I have been meaning to stop by the one in Spring. Probably not going to be good on my pocket book.

I love that store. I stay as far away as I can though.

I bought this fuel transfer set-up from Northern Tool and Equipment for the shop approx. a month ago to keep our stone dept's Case skid
steer full of fuel.

This morning in the 22 degree weather, the plastic impellar in the pump must have gotten extra brittle and the diesel in the tank was no doubt "thick", and the impellar broke. I had one of my shop hands take the pump off, and I proceeded to Northern Tool with just the pump (being as the tank was full of diesel). I didn't have alot of hope of leaving satisfied when I found that they don't sell that pump separately. I did however find a similar pump and the store Manager, Mark Zapeta (I believe that last name is correct) insisted that we open the box and make sure it would be a proper substitute. Such was not the case, and without hesitation Mr Zapeta promptly walked to the back with me and asked "Is this the tank you have?", it was. Mr Zapeta then opened the box on a brand new fuel tank, removed the pump, and asked that I meet him up front at the cash register.......where he promptly ordered the cashier to do a full exchange for me....free of charge.

I must admit I never read any warranty information on the product, and was not optimistic about being able to exchange just the pump. And Mr Zapeta would have been perfectly within his rights to make me clean-up and bring the whole greasy tank at the very least, but he did not. He was eager to help me out and that means a TON to me. They'd certainly have gotten my business in the future before today, but I can't tell you how happy I was to leave a place I dig so much.....completely satisfied!

BTW this was the Bedford store on 183.

I like to know how my employees handle themselves when I'm not around so I sent an email to the customer service dept.

"I would like to inform whoever it may concern of the EXTREMELY good, customer service I received from a manager at your Bedford Texas location. A gentleman named Mark Zapeta (sp), went above and beyond to make sure that I was satisfied with a problem I'd had with a purchase I'd made for my company. It means a lot, not only to myself, but to my boss that some people/companies are still as concerned with providing the type of service that we try to provide. Northern Tool and Equipment is a better company for having employees such as Mr. Zapeta and they will continue to get my company, and personal business, as well as my reccomendation to others.

Thank you.

03-03-2007, 07:05 PM
Legdog that's funny.

Sorry to hear about the condition of the saw Dale. They'll get it straightened out.

I just went to get this tool box today. Top and bottom, to use at work.

While I was there I also picked up a bench grinder, grinder, drill press, chop saw, and miter saw.
I also bought a 187 handler mig welder last week. Tryin to get shop at home set up and start some projects.

An awesome store and really good prices.
