October 20, Maverick County 8 Point

Thought I would post a 8 point I was lucky enough to get an arrow in October 20. So for this year I have had minimum time to spend in the brush chasing animals. With my oldest girl pitching for a ASA softball team, and that team playing three weekends out of the month of October my hunting time was cut way down. Anyway, I had a free three or four days the week of the 19th and I made a trip down to my Maverick county lease for a three day hunt, work trip. For the most part it was very slow for me, with only four bucks being seen on stand. One of the bucks I saw was a 4.5 year old management 8 point on my evening sit of the 20th. I let him work his way down a brush line to my right. He cut across the back of my feeder pen heading towards three does that were feeding on some hand corn in my left shooting lane. When he cleared the first doe and stepped in my lane I drew. As normally happens, he turned butt to me and walked towards the second doe. After a short little wait he turned back broadside at 38 yards. I did not wait long, I put my pin on him and dumped the string. Hit him a tad low cutting the bottom of his heart. He ran approximatley 50 yards and piled up. Attached are some photos of the trip and of my 8 point.

Hope everyone has great luck this weekend, and hope you enjoyed.

Thanks all, Dave your right, you can hang a ring on the bumb off the right main beam, but it is only 3/4" long, so since it would not add any score I did not count it. It grosses well over P&Y as an 8 so I was extremely happy with calling it an 8.LOL "9 point sounds better though!!LOL"

Thanks Snakelover, I am hoping that very soon you will be seeing Ashton in a picture with another good buck. She has been very lucky the last two years.

                        Good Luck to all
